Casting is a manufacturing process by which a liquid material is usually poured into a mold, which contains a hollow cavity of the desired shape, and then allowed to solidify. Casting technology can be divided into four types of methods according to the quantity of cavities. They are QT, QX, ZWS and WS. As the quantity and location of cavity are directly determined the dense structure of fused cast azs block, also influence the performance that a fused cast azs block express such as the ability of resistance to glass liquid, the pollution to glass liquid and the apparent porosity, so the features and applications of fused cast azs block are different when using different casting methods

QX casting is called tilted casting which is by casting the liquid material into the mold at a tilted position, so there is blow hole on one end of fused cast azs block, the other end is tightly filled, and the cavities are located at the bottom. Under this casting method, fused cast azs block is suitable for sidewall of glass furnace.

ZWS casting is called end cut casting which is similar to WS, merely a few cavities remain on the cut-off face of the body, using this casting method, fused cast azs block is mainly used for sidewall of glass furnace.

WS casting is called void free casting which cut off the void zone totally, merely no cavity left on the fused cast azs block, through this method, fused cast azs block has best performance among azs series blocks. It is best used for furnace throat, sidewall corners or other severely corrosive parts.

Although different casting method has certain effect on fused cast azs block, all the AZS blocks, whatever casting methods is used, have themselves excellent characteristics. All the fused cast azs blocks are suitably applied to liner of glass furnace.
