AZS fused cast refractory has been used in the checker bricks and the crown of glass furnaces. 

Fused cast AZS checker bricks has great corrosion resistance to the flying ash in the regenerators of glass furnaces. It is more durable than other bricks. 
 

AZS fused cast refractory also shows good performance and good durability in the crown of glass furnaces, especially glass furnaces with the crown insulated. The silica crown brick can not be used above 1600℃, while AZS fused cast bricks can be safely used at 1680℃ and has good corrosion resistance to flying ash and volatile components. So, the operating temperature can be increased by 100℃ without serious damage of the refractory materials. since the crown is insulated, the heat loss can be reduced. 

 

AZS crown has been used in Europe since 1965 to replace silica crown in some glass furnaces. It is widely used in soda-lime glass furnaces and container glass furnaces. AZS fused cast refractory has shown great energy efficiency.
